Apple giving huge discounts on Black Friday? No way!

Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, Retail, Rumors, Holidays

The boy geniuses over during Boy Genius Report have been removing a lot of hits out of a story they ran late yesterday. Apparently, one of their contacts tipped them to a "shot of Apple's each year Black Friday deals" which is "reported to be something Apple will email out shortly." The email (seen during right, pasted with an editorial criticism from yours truly) shows alleged discounts of up to 30% upon all iPods (excluding iPhone or iPod shuffle), up to 25% upon all Macs, as well as up to 15% upon all accessories, Apple software, as well as Apple hardware. This will customarily occur upon Nov 27th as well as apparently "select" Apple stores will open during 6 AM.
Well, many of us here during TUAW have been flattering certain this is a fake. A constrained fake, mind you, though an utter fabrication. Why?

First reason -- Apple roughly never discounts their products, other than offered refurbished apparatus upon a cheap. That's partial of a reason which a company is so successful as well as has a highest margins in a personal wiring as well as computing world. Discounts of "up to 25% upon all Macs" have been an Apple fanboy's many exciting mental condition (next to a iTablet, of course), though we doubt if a Cupertino Kids would bonus anything more than 5%.

Reason dual -- Apple Stores are, for a many part, hugely popular anyway. Apple doesn't need to draw towards in customers upon Black Friday by enticing them with wicked discounts. Let's face it, many of a Apple Stores have been starting to be packed upon Nov 27th, so because would Apple wish to create trade jams as well as ubiquitous violence by doing something similar to this? Hell, many of a Apple sell employees would substantially quit during Black Friday, withdrawal a company in a lurch for a rest of a legal holiday season.

Number 3 -- Historical precedence shows which Apple customarily provides discounts upon Black Friday, though not as big as BGR is indicating. In 2006, Apple supposing giveaway shipping to shoppers during a online store. Last year, Best Buy discounted up to US$150 upon Macs as well as Apple matched that, though there was no steenkin' 25% discount.

And finally, reason number 4 -- Apple's substantially not starting to send out anything with which much blank space during a tip of it. They're as well picky about design. They don't wish someone to have to scroll down through an email to review a discounts, even if there is an Apple trademark floating around during a tip of a email.

How certain have been we which this isn't starting to happen? Well, if it essentially happens a approach Boy Genius Report says it will, I'll wear a Boy Genius Report baseball top (provided by BGR, of course) for 4 hours during Macworld Expo 2010 as well as give we guys a little giveaway advertising. TUAW readers -- what do we consider about a discounts? Are they starting to occur or not?
